Course Profile

  • Type: Course with 18 hours (2 days, 1 overnight stay)

  • Target groups: Expedition assessors (Bronze and Silver), Award leaders, school mentors, Gold participants and independent  participants

  • Aim: Course attendees get the basic understanding of the Award required for any practical involvement, gives special advice on the delivery of the Expeditions section on the Bronze and Silver levels, introduces the main Award media by their use and provides the tools for the first steps for the implementation of the Award or the participation in it. The practical result is a plan for the Unit's Award work or the personal Award participation.

  • Contents and process: The course is the “official” introduction to the Award and required for all further trainings. It is based on Volume 1 of the Handbook. Method is “learning by doing” – active learning methods do not only guarantee sustainable learning, but also ensure that all course participants can apply themselves in an active way. The course starts and ends at home: in a preparatory homework, an individual Award programme has to be designed – and as a follow-up, the concepts and plans drawn up need to be further discussed.
